Convert Santander bank statements to Excel, Xero or QuickBooks
Santander statements run a Money in / Money out ledger (money in first) with a running balance column. Rowford’s Santander template maps the columns by header, folds the pair into signed amounts, and puts every statement through the same to-the-penny reconciliation before an export is offered.

How Rowford reads a Santander statement
The Santander template matches the columns as Santander prints them — separate money-in and money-out columns folded into one signed amount for export:
DateDescriptionMoney inMoney outBalance
- Money in prints before Money out on most Santander layouts — header-based mapping handles the order without configuration.
- Santander’s dense reference strings (card numbers, retailer codes) are preserved verbatim in the description column of every export.
- The running balance is recomputed row by row; discrepancies flag individual rows for review instead of failing the whole file.
What ends up in your export
Date (re-formatted per target: dd/mm/yyyy for Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and FreeAgent), the full description as printed, the signed amount, and — in the generic CSV and Excel formats — the running balance. Every row carries a confidence score in the preview, and the whole statement must reconcile (opening + transactions = closing) before you rely on it. Deterministic, template-based extraction: the same statement produces the same output, every time.
Santander questions
Which Santander statements work?
PDF statements from Santander online banking — 1|2|3, Everyday, and business current accounts using the Money in / Money out layout. No scans, no OCR.
Do card reference numbers survive the export?
Yes, verbatim. The only transformation is the removal of characters a target format forbids — FreeAgent’s CSV, for instance, does not allow commas, so they become spaces in that preset only.
Can I batch-convert a year of Santander statements?
Load all twelve PDFs at once — every file gets its own preview and reconciliation on any tier. Exporting them all in one go is part of the Firm licence.
